Hey, that's my city! I'm trying to think where this location is. They don't put an address on the card. Seems like that would help if someone were trying to find them.
Okay I know what's going on now. I couldn't think of where on Hwy 41 this could possibly be, but there is a completely separate road called "old" 41 and there are a bunch of 60s style motels on that strip. I don't know if I'd want to stay in one. I hear stories about people being found dead in those motels. The 60s style signs still exist on a few of them. Now they call it North Fares Ave instead of HWY41.
Keith: Absolutely awesome!! I'm so happy we can give this old gem a local. As you indicate - I just bet it's a ghost of its former glory. That's why I post these old cards - to at least remember the American motel in its prime.
Sadly they don't call it Stokker anymore. Maybe it's called Arrowhead Hotel or St Marys, or Sunset. There are a few and none of them look exactly the same as this.

ReplyDeleteHa ! Only in E-ville could there be a Motel named Stokker. You'll have to ask KW if the place still exists (if it is truly Un-Dead) !
ReplyDeleteHey, guys: knowing KW came from Evansville, I tried to locate this baby but had no luck.

ReplyDeleteKW: I bet Stokker was the family name of the hosts/owners and when/if they sold it, the new owners changed the name and the sign.
