  1. Hi Mykal,

I've been bored to death at my office job lately (things are very slow) and I've recently discovered your blogs which are helping keep my brain alive. I love your kid's comic blog, as Dells and the like have always been my primary love in the world of comics.

Regarding postcards: do you have either of the "Boring Postcards" books published by Phaidon? I have the USA one...absolutely wonderful stuff. Your postcard blog instantly reminded me of it.

    All the best.

  3. You know I could live like a Gypsy King at a site like this with my vintage teardrop tow-behind and olivetti-underwood typewriter !

  5. Hemet, California was where the famous Uncle Scrooge creator/cartoonist Carl Barks lived for decades and wrote and drew many of his best stories! Hemet was drawn into one of his Donald Duck stories, but renamed "Omelet".

  6. Funny you should say that - I was thinking the other day how much the guy sitting in the photograph sort of resembles Barks minus mustache. I probably had a subliminal association with Hemet from reading so much about Barks.

  8. You may find this website interesting...apparently Carl Barks was living on "Poppy Drive" only a block away from the trailer park on Florida Drive!
