There is something terribly reassuring about having that white life preserver ring tacked up to the tree like that. Makes you feel safe. The vast number of people wearing their Sunday best just sitting there watching a lone diver adds to the feeling of safety as well.
On a side note - WHY aren't cars cool like that anymore?
Spectergirl: I know what you mean about the safety this photo exudes. There is something immenately comforting about the classic kidney shaped pool as well. Plus, that girl sitting on the fender of that car in the classy suimsuit is just an ultimately awesome image.
I don't know why cars aren't cool anymore. They all look like jellybeans now.

The composition is near perfect, the colors are balanced, and it looks like there's a real sky (as opposed to one that's been stripped in).
